Product Details
The Sky-Blue Thread of Tzitzit
The mitzvah of techelet is part of the broader commandment of tzitzit. According to the Torah, a thread of wool dyed with techelet must be added to the four corners of the tallit. The dye is extracted from a specific marine creature.
Three Halachic Traditions
We offer techelet from the three most respected modern traditions:
- Rambam / Teimani 13 — Follows the Rambam (Maimonides) halachic interpretation with 13 wraps per gadil, preserved in the Yemenite tradition.
- Raavad — Follows the ruling of Rabbi Avraham ben David of Posquières (12th century Provence).
- Radzin — The Radziner Rebbe’s tradition (Rabbi Gershon Henoch Leiner), using techelet derived from the cuttlefish (sepia).
Two Thicknesses
- Thin — For everyday tallit and tzitzit garments.
- Thick — For Shabbat, Yom Tov, and traditional preference.
